M-Wave
In 1998, the Olympic and Paraolympic Winter Games were successfully held in Nagano. Many of the former facilities can still be viewed in and around the city.
Among them are the White Ring, the venue for some of the skating events and now serving as a gymnasium, the Big Hat, one of the two ice hockey venues and now a multipurpose hall, and the Aqua Wing, the second venue for ice hockey and now used as an indoor swimming pool.
The best place to experience Nagano's olympic past, however, is probably M-Wave, the venue of the speed skating events. M-Wave is now a multi-purpose arena, which houses the Nagano Olympic Museum, a small museum displaying items like the olympic torch and the Japanese team uniform.
