By air
JAL, Air Do and Skymark Airlines operate multiple flights per day between Tokyo's Haneda Airport and Asahikawa Airport. Flight duration is 100 minutes.
The regular one way fare by JAL is around 40,000 yen, however, discount tickets are typically available for between 12,000 and 32,000 yen. Buses connect Asahikawa Airport with Asahikawa Station in the city center (35 minutes, 570 yen), Biei (15 minutes, 360 yen) and Furano (60 minutes, 750 yen).
By train
The journey from Tokyo to Asahikawa by daytime trains involves transfers at Hachinohe, Hakodate and Sapporo, takes 11-12 hours, costs around 25,000 yen one way and is fully covered by the Japan Rail Pass. It is also possible to use night trains between Tokyo and Sapporo.

Please check the Asahidake, Tenninkyo and Sounkyo information pages for respective access details.
Orientation
Daisetsuzan National Park covers a large area and can be approached from many directions. Most travelers, however, will approach the park from Asahikawa, Hokkaido's second largest city. Please check the Asahidake Onsen, Tenninkyo and Sounkyo information pages for respective access details.
A rental car is recommended for exploring Daisetsuzan National Park, because service by public transportation tends to be infrequent and time consuming. Rental cars are available at Asahikawa Airport and in central Asahikawa as well as other airports and major cities across Hokkaido.
