Rurikoji Temple, Yamaguchi City Yamaguchi Prefecture is the westernmost prefecture on Honshu Island It is part of the Chugoku Region. Prefectural capital is Yamaguchi City. Yamaguchi, then known as Choshu, played a leading role in overthrowing the shogunate and bringing Japan's feudal era to an end.
