Cherry Blossom Forecast 2013
As of May 18, 2013

The cherry blossom season has come to an end in most of Japan, except in Hokkaido. After a slow down due to unseasonally low temperatures during most of April and early May, the cherry blossom front reached Hokkaido with a delay of about a week compared to the average year.

Below are the forecast dates of cherry trees opening their blossoms this year (according to the Japan Weather Association, except Yoshino which is according to Yoshino Town) and the estimated best viewing periods (estimated by japan-guide.com based on the aforementioned forecasts). Rain, wind and temperatures can have a strong effect on the process of the season, for example, they can accelerate, delay or shorten it considerably. Therefore, use the forecasts on your own risk.
