JR trains on non-JR tracks
There is a small number of JR trains that partially use the railway tracks of different railway companies. If you travel along such sections with a Japan Rail Pass or Seishun 18 Kippu, a supplement fee has to be paid for the non-JR section. This supplement is usually paid to the conductor on board of the train or at a station.
The map and list below show the non-JR sections most likely encountered but not easily identified as such by foreign tourists. Note that there are several other such sections in addition to the ones listed below.
