October 23, 2015 - Himeji Castle, the first autumn since reopening
One of the main purpose of our travel to Japan was to finally see Himeji Castle in all its splendor after five years of reconstruction work. So we didn't hesitate much and the next day after arriving to Japan we got on an early Shinkansen and traveled to Himeji. The weather was just perfect and even the crowd was not as big as we expected it to be.
We read somewhere that just near the castle on its West side there is a hill with a small lookout that has a spectacular view of Himeji Castle. It was already getting a bit late, but we still gave it a try and luckily we managed to find the spot.
