June 6, 2017 - Trip to Kadogawa in Miyazaki-ken [Tombo, Japanese restaurant]
Tombo is a small izakaya style restaurant in Kadogawa. Tombo means dragonfly in Japanese, but there are no dragonflies on the menu except as decorations!
Specialties include miso namasu and shio namasu, both being mixtures of raw skipjack tuna and various seasonings. The shio namasu is flavored with salt and is lightly baked so the texture is somewhat different than the uncooked miso namasu. The miso version contains miso as well as ginger and onion. All of the standard teishoku dishes are available here; I particularly recommend the shouga yaki which is ginger-flavored roast meat.
