April 25, 2013 - Mitaki Temple near Hiroshima

Mitaki Temple is a very nice temple in the outskirt of Hiroshima.

This Buddhist temple is located in a steep, heavily forested valley on the side of Mt Mitaki-yama and takes its name from the three waterfalls within its grounds. It is most known, perhaps, for its two-storied pagoda.

There is a lot of ponds and small waterfalls around the temple.

After a steep staircase, you will have a great view on Hiroshima and further away of the sea and Miyajima island.

The two stories pagoda.

Access:

The entrance to Mitaki Temple is about a 20 minute walk up a steep road from Mitaki JR Station two stops from Hiroshima Station on the Kabe Line. With the station behind you, head to your left and turn right at the level crossing in front of a bridge. Take the right fork at Saigan-ji Temple and follow the road around to the left, passing a childrenfs park on the right hand side.
