Which of these is more valued or appreciated in Japan? I know that Yomeishu is from Japan so everyone should be familiar with it but what about Dom Benedictine? Are these appropriate as gifts?

hi, Yomeisyu is a kind of alcohol for the health. They contains a lot of herbal medicine. So Elderly people use it as preventive medicine. So, it's not popular to give young healthy people Yomeisyu as a gift.

Yomeishu is from Japan, and as kazz says, it is considered more medicinal for the elderly. This is the first time I hear of Dom Benedictine, but do you know that the recipient likes strong alcohol drinks/liqueurs?

Yes...my intention was to gift them to a lady who is about 60 years old. Is she too young to receive something like this?

Will this be considered an 'over-the-top' gift? I want to give her something to show my concern and not put any 'pressure' on her for a return gift or anything like that...you guys know what I mean?

I think it's a reasonable gift to show your concern.
