sending stuff home e.g postcards & packages 2013/4/10 21:13
Hi im from Australia and Im traveling to japan. I want to send postcards and packages home to Australia.
I am wondering if I write my Australian address on the packages in japanese or in english? Also is there a certain type of way I have to write my address?

I always write mine in English, but if you're concerned, ask the people at the Post Office.

Sarah,

Yes, you should write in English. The Japanese postal staff are perfectly capable of reading country names in English, while I somewhat doubt whether Australian postal staff would be able to decipher a Japanese address. But then how would you write an Australian in Japanese anyway? (grin)

You can write in English. It will be kind to a Japanese postal worker, if you write letters clearly as possible.
