How to Meet People and Hangout

I will be traveling to Japan and will be staying in the Tokyo area for the next two weeks. This is my first trip to Japan, and I was wondering if there were any interesting places where one could meet other travelers or locals. I don't know anyone in Japan and I would really love to be able to hang out with other people during my stay there an to experience more of the Japanese culture and language.
