Jiro at Ginza

Not too sure if this is the correct forum to ask but this is a question to anyone who had dine at Jiro's.
Saw the menu, its 30,000 Yen per course.
Is this for 2 or for 1? If it is the latter, will Jiro mind if I were to share this with my fnd? Haha.
Additionally, i understand from Jiro may not be the one preparing the sushi always, is that correct?
Thanks!

I've never eaten there myself but was looking into it a few months ago.

That's 30,000 per person. The course meal consists of 20 pieces of sushi.

I doubt that would be ok with the chef.

I believe Jiro does the sushi, but is sometimes assisted by his son.

That's the price per person. If you want to save money, it's as simple as going to a different restaurant. There are about 100,000 restaurants in Tokyo that are cheaper than Jiro. Some of them even serve better food!

You shouldn't be dining at Jiro if you are trying to save money. Note that drinks and tax are extra so expect a bill even higher than 30,000 yen per person.

Any restaurant save a select few will be cheaper than Jiro. But if you are going to Jiro then its because of Jiro. No other restaurant can substitute for that at any price.

It's extremely hard to get a reservation at Jiro. You'll need to ask someone who speaks Japanese to make a phone call for you.

I was going to comment that I don't know if Jiro has shops in Ginza, but there is a good one in Hachioji... but then I noticed you are talking about some other non-popular Jiro. Well, anyway... I still recommend Jiro in Hachioji. It's only walk away from my university and offers the best cost/performance ration in Japan. http://en.rocketnews24.com/2013/05/24/we-devour-a-mountain-of-ramen-to...You'll meet many other Jiro lovers, or as we call us "Jirolians"

Well, the original Jiro is in Ginza... but have you thought about going to his son's restaurant in Roppongi Hills?
I heard it was a little easier to get reservations there...

Has Joel Robuchon been to Jiro in Hachioji as well?

Jiro Fan,
Actually, the place you were asking about is called Sukiyabashi Jiro. If you tell Japanese that you are a "Jiro Fan", we are more likely to assume you are a fan of Ramen Jiro.

I read that Jiro is now closed after a serious fire burned the building in which it was located, the fire was said to start in their kitchen.
Is it reopen already, or relocated or...?
