I want to unlock the Xperia docomo phone. Where is the best place for me to go? I bought the phone with no plan and no SIM. I find the thread that said Docomo will unlock the phone but I don't know that it is still up-to-date or not. So I put up the question again to confirm.
Thank you for any answers

Yes, Docomo stores will still unlock eligible phones for a small fee (about 3000 yen).

Another more questions... I'm wondering if the phone is Shiro-rom, will Docomo shop unlock the phone for me? The phone is Sony Xperia SO4E Hatsune Miku Edition.
And which Docomo shop I can go to? I will be stay in Ikebukuro (Near the Ikebukuro JR Station) And what should I told them when I'm at the Docomo shop. And, did I have to bring anything else [Other than the phone and the money.]? like passport.
Thank you further for you replies

Good question, I don't know.
And which Docomo shop I can go to?
Any of them can do it, its a matter if they will for a shirorom
And, did I have to bring anything else [Other than the phone and the money.]? like passport.
Also, I can't find it right now but there was a thread discussing whether or not the rules excluded non-residents from unlocking phones. Best to go into a store and ask directly.

Why don't you ask to the store which you boutht this phone ? They will tell you how to use. IF you bought your phone on the street, it could be stolen or illegal one. http://nw-restriction.nttdocomo.co.jp/top.phpyou can check whether your phone is Ok or not. generally speaking, if you have no SIM, how to use the unlocked phone ?

well this is my experience doing unlocking at docomo shop..
bought docomo phone off the internet, checked it at docomo website, status is network restrict..
went to the shop, told them i need to sim unlock the phone..
no question asked, just show ID(am a residence, use my japanese driving licence), pay 3150yen and the shop people do their magic..in and out within 10 mins..
not sure if tourist (on passport as ID) is OK? FYI, shirorom or akarom(network restricted) do not matter if you using it outside japan.. also without SIM, the phone can be used, connection via wifi..

With a prepaid or contract sim that you get from a carrier that supports your phone. That's the whole point of unlocking...

Thank you for all answers!
I bought the phone from Amazon.co.jp The shop said that I can take it to Docomo shop to unlock it but they don't know Docomo will require identification for Shiro-rom or not.
And if they require the identification, they don't know if Docomo will accept the passport as the identification.
So now the question is... will they require the identification or not if I'm not a subscriber of Docomo.

an identification is definitely needed, however whether passport is acceptable or not, call Docomo as mentioned above to confirm

That is the question. You're gonna have to contact them directly or just go in and try it out to confirm.

OK, now I've simfree the phone. Not by me though because the one who will did the papers have to be Japanese or resident. The phone already accepted my simcard but there is no service and searching for the service did not work. Do you guys who have simfree Japanese phone have the same problem as me?
After simfree the phone do I have to do something to complete the simfree operation?
Thank you for all answers KUU

simfree just mean the phone now is FREE to accept any simcard. although your phone is sim free, but you still need to adjust the phone setting(network), since the phone software/setting is still under Docomo. so the phone will not detect your simcard network because there is no instruction, don't knw where to search. which company/provider simcard do you used? check your sim card company/provider setting such as APN etc.. you can used wifi though to connect internet. For example, b-mobile SIM CARD Setting :- http://www.bmobile.ne.jp/english/setting.html
