Hello everybody, I've found on the web a japanese poem that says (I'm translating it from French) : "If your heart is in misery, don't hear any music, go noiselessly and feed yourself with silence, where there's only air, water and pebbles, because there will be resounding the words that let us live" The translation is not very good .. but I'm looking for the original version of this poem and maybe someone can help me to find it ;). Thanks and have a great day!!

Hello, Thanks for your answer. I've been looking for this information and everyone who's posting this poem on french websites only says that it's a japanese poem .. without any data about it !! I don't know the author, or whether it's of modern or classic style. I'll try to find it translated to English, maybe I'll learn more about it. I also tried to find it by searching the key words (heart, music, air, water, pebbles) translated on japanese on google but as I don't speak japanese it's hard for me to get any conclusion :D ..

Umm...sorry, I can't think of anything. It looks something like modern Buddhist sermon or Chinese Taoism. Or the words of a song. I think it's too abstract as a Japanese poem. But I'm unsure.

Thank you for thinking about it :), I guess that people in France may think that it is a japanese poem but there's no data to be sure about it. I'm pretty sure that the poem has been copied and pasted from a site to another without checking the source material. It's a pitty because it's beautiful but I want to be able to read it in japanese and I need the original version to do so :). By the way, would you know some japanese poem about friendship ? Or a poem that you like ? I only find haikus on the web .. I like them, but I would like to read a more extended text. Thank you for all!!

It's "Mimi wo tujite" written by Kiyooka Takayuki. This is original. 心がうらぶれたときは 音楽を聞くな 空気と水と石ころぐらいしかない所へ そっと沈黙を食べに行け 遠くから 生きるための言葉が 谺してくるから Kokoro ga urabureta toki ha ongaku wo kikuna kuki to mizu to ishikoro guraishika nai tokoro he sotto chinmoku wo tabeni ike tokukara ikirutame no kotoba ga kodamashite kurukara Look at this site. http://oikim.doorblog.jp/archives/3352008.html

Hello, Thank you so much for your answers, thanks to them I'm discovering japanese poetry :) As I was looking for the poem of Takamura Kotaro I found another one, from Yamamura Bocho : Haru no Kawa (Spring River). I will have to choose between them .. mmmhh .. it's difficult. I also want to record myself telling the poem, I hope the result will be understandable lol. And of course .. if you need some help about french culture don't hesitate !!

Although I love some words of English songs, foreign poems are hard to feel to me.(x_x;) Off topics, about French literature, many Japanese children love Maurice Leblanc's "Arsène Lupin" that is stocked at libraries in any elementary school. http://www.amazon.co.jp/-/dp/4591114988/I was scared at that cover.(^-^;) And of course, also it's very popular "Le Petit Prince", Alexandre Dumas, Jules Verne, Victor Hugo and so on. Personally, I was absorbed in reading Albert Camus's "L'Étranger", "La Peste", "Le Mythe de Sisyphe" and J.P.Sartre's "La Nausée". Though both were translated, because I can't read French, A.Camus is a great guide/teacher of my life!

Oh, that's great !! @ajapaneseboy : I didn't know that French culture was known so much out of France and French speaking countries .. About a writer that is as french (belgian) and japanese I can mention Amélie Nothomb. I've read almost all of her books :). I love her style, her humour, ... @haro : thanks for your link, I don't know japanese language but maybe I will start learning it.
