What gifts should I send to my Pen Pal?

I'm sending three pen pal packages for Christmas, but I have no clue what to send them! I know food is a major gift, but I want to send items; however, I don't know what Japan has and doesn't have. I want to get them something they have probably never seen before, or something close to that at least. What are some things in America that are not in Japan? Can you help me?

You are going to send a gift for male or female?
Hoe much is your budget?
For female, Victoria's secret body cream or lotion is quite popular, some of Victoria products can be purchased in Japan but all of them and it's cheaper to buy in US.
For male, a pair of gloves or a scurf will be nice.
