Will non Japan iPad work with Japan SIM card?

Hi there. I have an iPhone that I bought in Japan together with a 3G plan. Can I buy a 3G ipad air from HK or the Philippines and just take out my Japanese SIM card and put it in my non Japanese ipad?

It should be OK! As long as you did not get the iPad on a contract in order to subsidize the cost. When you do this, most carriers lock the device for the duration of the contract. If the device is locked, a Japanese SIM will not work.
