Will Persimmons be in season at the end of March/early April ? On our last trip to Tokyo in Dec 2013, we bought some persimmons in a Tokyo suburban supermarket which were in the shape of a pyramid and they were delicious so on our next trip at the end of March/early April we would like to buy a lot more to take home, what is the name in Japanese of that type of persimmon so we could buy them ?

Depends on the variety, but the peak season for "kaki" (with the accent on "KI" - persimmon) is Oct. to Nov.

You can not take home fresh fruits unless your country allows. Check with your Customs before they confiscate them. Late Dec./Jan. have dried persimons sold. They are white in appearance(natural drying transformation) but very moist & very sweet inside. It is an amazing change from an inedible persimon(called shibu-gaki) to this extreme sweatness by air drying.
