Hakone Restaurants near Hakone Hotel/Ashinoko

We are traveling to Japan in November with 9 people for my wedding :)

We are spending one night in Hakone, most likely staying at Hakone Hotel in Hakone, Ashinoko Onsen area.

The dinner at the hotel is very expensive ($70+pp not including drinks) so I am thinking of trying to have dinner elsewhere.

Does anyone know restaurants near the hotel, that cater to the vegetarian in our group and are a little less expensive?

If not, do the buses run and is it plausible to have dinner elsewhere in Hakone (we will have the 'free pass' to get around) - any recommendations of restaurants that may be open around 7pm are most welcome!

Buses do run late.

One option is the stretch of shops along Hakone-Yumoto station.

There is food near the pier area at moto-hakone as well but the options are rather limited, just over a handful of restaurants. Prices are reasonable though, 1000 yen upwards.
