Addressing japanese person in English

Hello! I'm writing a letter for my japanese friend. I'm writing it in English and I wonder how I should talk about her in the letter. You or her name? We are not very close yet. If I wrote in Japanese, it's clear that I'd use "name-san" but how about english? Using -san sounds a bit odd among all the English, like I talked about another person.

So the question is: When writing in English for japanese person, is it okay to use "you" instead of "name-san"? Like, "I can't wait to see you again" instead of "I can't wait to see Akiko-san again"?

Does Losster normally refer to Losster's friends by their names when Losster writes to them in English? Of course it's weird and unnatural.

It is much better to say; " I can't wait to see you again".

Using a persons own name when addressing them in a letter or email is a little odd sounding.

Some English speakers also do make the mistake of using "san" when addressing themselves. it is a learned usage. This does not sound like it applies here.

I think you must use the rules of the language you use. For example I'm from Germany. Friends talk to me be using the german word "du" (in english you), other people use the more polite word "Sie" (in english you). But when someone writes a lettre in english to me, he or she just uses the english word "you" of course and not a mixture of english words and german "du" or "Sie".
