Hi, I will be in Japan for 12 nights in April and would like to know if there are data plan which I can purchase for use during my trip. I understand there is also free wifi for visitors in some cities, can anyone help me with this?

The data sims from B-mobile are for 14 days which is a close match to your plans. http://www.bmobile.ne.jp/english/product.htmlthey offer a 14 day unlimited data with restricted speed or a 1gb unlimited speed which last a maximum of 14 days, but can be recharged. If you only require data these are very convenient.
