Are Japanese court proceedings open to the public ? Anybody knows how to attend one just to spectate.

The judicial process is open to the public. You can attend any of judicial process which is held at the court. The gate of the court opens at 8:20, the process starts at 10:00. All process will end by 16:00, so you should be there 15 - 20 mins in advance. You can check the all process timetable on notice board of the court.
You can take notes during the process bun is not permitted to record with recording equipment. Turn off your mobile while you are in the court.
