Baby food near Toyoko Inn Kyoto Gojo-karasuma 2014/4/15 11:37
I am bringing my 9 months old baby to Japan next month, the first night will stay at Toyoko Inn Kyoto Gojo-karasuma.

May I know any stores or supermarket near by this hotel which can buy those instant baby foods? Any recommended brand?

Thanks a lot.

Your baby has no food allergies?

There is a drug store called "Ducks" Karasuma store(9:00-21:00, Mon-Sun). It's about 300m away toward North from Toyoko Inn. If you are unsure ask the place at Toyoko Inn.

I guess Ducks Karasuma store sells baby instant foods.

Ajisen-shioji brand is popular cooked with organic vegetables but a little expensive.
Not sure that Ducks sells Ajisen-shioji brands. It normally sells one bottle containing organic vegetable and rice(100g) around 400 YEN. http://www.shioji.co.jp/commodity/baby_food/meal/index.html

Kewpie is another famous baby food brand.
One bottle contains 100g of baby food sells around 130 YEN.

Wakodo is another famous baby food brand.
The food sells around 160 YEN with 80g.

Bring your own baby foods, and then buy Japanese baby food in case of emergency to prevent food allergies.

How long will you be in Japan for? You may find it easier to bring all the food from home. We took our daughter to Tokyo for a month when she was that age, and took enough to get us through a week or so as it would have been too much to take otherwise. We also made sure she was happy and fine to eat rice, tofu and fish before we went.
I thought the Japanese baby foods were all good. We mostly bought the Kewpie brand, but also the others. The foods are mostly savoury.

Have fun!
