need to keep payslips?

Hello ,
I have been living in Japan for 12 years and about to return to my country, The UK. I have kept all my payslips from the 12 years and was wondering if it is really necessary to keep them all? Will I have to prove what I have been earning during my absence when I return to The UK? and what will I need to do when I get back in order to get back onto the system so to speak.

You should do. You can scan if you don't like to keep papers with a scanner or at Combini with photo copier into USB memory.
