Japanese sim card or rent a phone? 2014/9/8 11:20
I'm going to Japan in late october and staying for about two and a half week as an exchange student.
It would be good if a had a japanese sim card or phone, I am not in such big need of calling home to Sweden but I would like to go out on the internet. Go out on facebook and use LINE.
But I also want to be able to text/call to my japanese friends in Japan

Which company is the best to use?
Should I get a japanese sim card or rent a phone?
And how does the rental phone process work?
I'm using a Samsung galaxy s4 mini phone

For your situation I would consider just getting a prepaid data sim and then use an internet phone service like skype or line for your calling.

B-mobile, global advance, or econnect will probably be the easiest for you to use.

Rental phone will be even easier but more expensive. Most rent smartphones that come with unlimited data. Expect those to cost around 1000 yen per day.
