Food in Kobe and Kyoto 2014/11/6 10:14
Hi,

We are going to Japan this coming Nov/Dec and need some help on food in Kobe and Kyoto.

a) Can you advice whether the eateries at Kyomizu dera temple or the street around it will close early say around 6pm?

b) My cousin want to eat Kobe Beef in Kobe and I want to accompany her. Can you advice whether there is a restaurant in Kobe where we can have mixed menu (Kobe Beef plus chicken or Fish)?

c) Any must eat restaurant in KObe, Osaka or Kyoto?

PS we are pretty open to all kind of food but the only type of sashimi we take are salmon...

Thank you for your help

Regards
Jade

Many of the shops immediately near the Temple will close around that time but in terms of meals, the choices are somewhat limited anyway. However, the temple is very close to several main streets so access to food is no problem
It is not the case that there is some type of food that is unique to the streets specifically surrounding the temple.

In Kobe, Harborland will offer you all the dining choices you need, including some great Kobe beef.

The local foods like okonomiyaki, takoyaki, kushiyaki, and ramen are really worth having in Osaka.

Osaka and Kobe also have a great range of fine non-Japanese restaurants.
Some of the best Italian, French, Turkish, and Southeast Asian cuisine is actually in Japan.

If there's one restaurant in Kyoto that I would recommend, if would be Hachidaime Gihei.

There are numerous exclusive, crazy expensive, almost impossible to find or get a seat at types of washoku restaurants in Kyoto but Gihei is a resonable price and you just have to go early and wait in line.

Most restaurants in Japan specialize in one cuisine or another, so beef specialists will tend to serve mostly or only beef. You might have some luck with restaurants located in hotels though.

Any must eat restaurant in Kobe, Osaka or Kyoto

As the poster above suggested, you should try out some of the regional cuisines of the area such as deep-fried kushiage skewers, takoyaki, etc. Here are some suggestions along those lines:
