Real crazy bars or restaurants 2015/1/18 10:17
Hey guys,

I will visit Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe and Hiroshima next week. Where can I find real crazy bars and restaurants? Something which is typical for Japan... Perhaps a manga bar... Or like the decadance bar in Shinjuku. Do you have any proposals?

Thanks a lot in advance!

There seems to be a cartoon bar in Shinjuku Golden Gai.
However, since the 5-seat only, and may not be much stay.

Visit the older areas of the town and drop in on one of the many small restaurants for an unique experience. They are cramped, they are dirty, the master or mama-san is typical quite the character and you'll love the food. You really cannot get more authentic than this and yet so many tourists don't do this. I love going to these place myself!

I second the above. The best way to find the hidden gems is to get a way from the touristy areas and walk the back streets and alleys and see what you stumble upon. That's what I do when I'm in JP.
