Nostalgic neighborhood in Osaka? 2015/2/7 18:20
Hi everyone! Ive been to Kyoto, and Nara but not Osaka yet. Can anyone recommend old fashioned or nostalgic places to visit in Osaka? How about Shinsekai?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, Shinsekai is the perfect destination for a nostalgic neighborhood in Osaka.

Tsuruhashii (Korea Town) may be interesting place to visit. Are there others hidden neighborhoods?

most of nostalgic area in Osaka city are completely destroyed by US' illegal (against Hague Convention) attacks.
what you can see in Shin-Sekai and Tsuruhashi are early constructions of only 70 years old, after WW2.

Tobita Shinchi is the place definitely.
But, I don't visit there because it scary and don't want to get involved in accident.

Nostalgia is a feeling one has about something one has DONE or SEEN long ago..

If you have never been to a town, neighbourhood etc. before it cannot be nostalgic for you.

What you are looking for is an older area or an historical one..but even those change with the times, in any country.
Buildings are renovated, business change etc.

I was born in a town going back to 600 B.C. The main shopping street go back to Roman times, but it doesn't look now as it did in my youth, where it was full or cars, and doesn't look as it did in my great grandma days, when they had horse-drawn carriages.
Now it is a car-free street.
Most of the buildings are the same, though, but most of the stores are different.

Shinsekai is nostalgic of like downtown.
Nakazakicho and around the karahori shotengai(mall) are stylish retro.
Kitahama and Nakanoshima are western-style retro.
