Thank you Uji for your feedback. I read in the Kintetsu site that I can buy the rail pass in the Nagoya airport, but it is only open till 8pm (Japan time) and Im arriving at 9pm. Is there any alternative place I can buy?

The Kintetsu Pass will be a good value. You might consider paying for a bus to Takayama. You could use the Kintetsu Pass to go to Nagoya, and then take a bus from there, or, just take the bus from Osaka. Here is a link for the Nohi Bus line, which is based in Takayama. There would be a highter cost if you took the direct bus from Osaka, but there would be the convience of a direct bus. http://www.nouhibus.co.jp/english/The cost of a round trip ticket from Nagoya to Takayama is 5140 yen, so it is less than the Takayama-Hokuriku Tourist Pass. That pass will also pay for bus fare to Shirakawa-go, if you are planning to go there. Overall, it may be a better value than just purchasing a round trip bus ticket from Nagoya to Takayama. This is dependant on what you planing to do. I would asvise you to at least look at the Nohi bus page, just to see what things they offer. Even if you are plannning to go to Shirakawa-go, you might want to go there with an English speaking guide. If this is the case, then just getting the round trip bus tickets may be a better value.
