Tokyo to Zao Kitsune Mura Fox Village 2015/2/17 00:08
Hi All,

How do I get to Fox Village from Tokyo Station? Is it true that it takes at least 2 1/2 hours to get there and back?

In your opinion, is it worth it to travel from Tokyo?

What else is there in that area besides Fox Village? Is there something to do in Shiroishi like sightsee and have lunch?

Thanks.

First, Shinkansen to Shiroishi-Zao. Then you can either take a taxi to the village, or go to Shiroishi station and take a bus. Two buses per day on Tuesdays and Fridays only. Note also that the first Shinkansen from Tokyo arrives too late to catch the first bus, so if you want to catch it you have to spend the previous night in e.g. Sendai or Fukushima.

Shioishi has some historical buildings and a (reconstructed) castle, and Sendai is only 15 minutes away by Shinkansen.

Thanks, Firas.

Do you know what the bus schedule is or can you post a link to it?

Nearest stop is 神嶺, which is about 500 meters away from the village, although if you ask the driver nicely he will probably drop you off in front of it.

I visited this zoo 9 april 2015.
Shinkansen train station: Shiroishizao (2 hours from Tokyo)
Taxi: 2x 4000 Yen (30 minutes)
Entrance: 1000 Yen

I don't recommend this zoo.
The foxes are in very little cages without water.
Other are chained.
A lot of foxes are afraid and have comportment trouble.
In the main area, a lot of foxes are injured because they don't have enough space.

My worth souvenir of Japan (4 trips since 2010).
We sent email and pictures at tourism office of Miyagi.

Visit Rabbit Island at Okunoshima!
The animal are really free and happy.
