dim sum lunch in yokohama chinatown 2015/3/9 17:13
Have a few questions. I went to yokohama chinatown in search of dim sum, but too much time was trying to ask if anyone speaks cantonese. Everyone either spoke japanese or mandarin which was hard because english was not spoken by any.

Is dim sum a buffet at every restaurant?

I gathered they do not have the push cart ladies. Do you order off a menu and does it have picturres?

Can anyone recommend a restaurant for dim sum? I want to get info for my next trip.

Today, many Chinese restaurants serve a buffet style dim sum called 'oodaa shiki baikingu'(all-you-ca-eat).

I can recommend DaiChinrou, I'm not expert though.

They say 2hours for 1adult 2,480yen on weekday, 2,880yen on weekend.

I gather you can write Chinese characters. Did you communicate by doing so? You can simply write “_S or ˆù’ƒ or specific menus such as Ä”„@é\“ª@•ïŽq …éLŽq and so on and EVERYONE will understand. The menus are also written in Chinese characters.

To answer your question, some restaurants offer pictures while others don't. Same with push-carts.

It's not a buffet, but I quite like Heichinrou's rather sophisticated dim sum service: http://www.bento.com/rev/2750.html

There's a separate dim sum dining room on the ground floor of the restaurant.

I speak cantonese but can't read chinese.

Most places I went into inquire all said 1994 yen or something...I don't think I got very far into chinatown though, I went in the main entrance and got to some restaurant that looked fancy, and you needed a reservation. it wasn't a buffet though and I don't think it was manchiro...

Thanks for the recs...be sure to try them

Since there is popular, it is necessary to wait until the meal.
