Academic teaching and racial bias

Has anyone had the experience of teaching/researching at University level. Are university students respectful of lecturers of different races (Black , white, other Asian cause for example, I have personaly heard, and read reports that for ESL students and institutions prefer Foreigners that look cuacasian (ie blond, blues eyes etc...)and did you have a good response from the rest of the faculty?
