7 days JR pass for 11 nights 12 days

Narita airport will be our point of going in and out of Japan.
Our travel plan Narita - Tokyo - Kyoto - Hiroshima -Tokyo-Narita and also plan to take side trips along the way.
Is 7 days JR pass sufficient?
Do we need to buy city transport passes in Tokyo, Kyoto Hiroshima, miyajima, and other side trips?
We would like to experience staying in ryokan 1 night or two along our travel plan, is Kyoto be the choice to stay in ryokan?
Any itinery suggestions which would benefit the use of JR pass are appreciated.z
