Hi,
Any information in the above would be much appreciated as I'm having quite a bit of trouble finding information on where I can see Shamisen performances.

In planning our trip I came across a restaurant in Asakusa where "The proprieter of this restaurant is an accomplished Tsugaru Shamisen player. He looks forward to sharing with you an authentic musical and dining experience." http://www.waentei-kikko.com/index_e.html

For Tokyo, sometimes the Edo Tokyo Museum has traditional performances like Shamisen. You could try emailing them to see if they had something during your dates: http://www.edo-tokyo-museum.or.jp/en/Another restaurant that frequently has shamisen music is called Kikko in Asakusa. I think they will definitely have music on the weekends, maybe during the week for high season. Other than that, I'd check with the tourist information booths in each city. They should have up-to-date information about any performances that might be happening while you're there. And I dunno your dates, but if you get a chance to see the Yoshida Brothers live, it is worth every penny of the ticket price, they're fantastic! Here are a few upcoming dates: http://www.yoshida-brothers.jp/solo02.php
