Hiroshima Nice Dinner out 2015/7/10 16:01
We are having some trouble finding a nicer upper end restaurant in Hiroshima. Trip Advisor has very limited options, especially near downtown and the Genbaku dome.

PLENTY of Okonomiyaki options, but we were looking for a more formal sit down place.

Suggestions?

Start by checking out some of the restaurants at http://www.gethiroshima.com or in the GetHiroshima Magazine http://issuu.com/gethiroshima

Try Tabelog. Their English interface is a bit challenging, but this is, by far, the most comprehensive rating list of restaurants in Japan. Quite useful.

For instance, the above is a listing of places near downtown and the Peace Museum. You can tailor the search to suit you (slide the price bar to weed out the less expensive places).

If you like oysters and seafood, you can try Kakifune Kanawa. They serve mainly in traditional Japanese kaiseki style.

The restaurant is set up in a pseudo boat on Ota river. Nice ambiance and setting, plus you get to dine afloat on a boat-restaurant.

I LOVE seafood! Might have to force the rest of the party into this one. Maybe I will make this my "override" restaurant....
