Sakura no Sono, cherry blossom 2015/8/27 04:38
Hiya,
I recently watched the Japanese drama movie Sakura no Sono from 1990 apparently taking place around April 14th (one of the characters had her birthday that day) with cherry blossom in the vicinity.

Found out from IMDB that the movie has been recorded in Tokyo area, Saitama, Kawagoe, Kawasaki, etc.

If I recall correctly the cherry blossom does not bloom that late in April in Tokyo area, but I might be wrong. Would it be some sort of late blooming cherry trees or is the date perhaps wrong?

The scene looked really beautiful with the cherry blossom but I guess you never see a cherry blossom with little people around, if you get my thinking.

Recently, a feeling that became early flowering of the cherry blossoms under the influence of global warming.
There used to be the case that bloom in April in Tokyo.
In 1988, I hear snow fell on April 8.
In addition, Akimi Yoshida cartoon author was born in 1956.
If she had written the era of the days of high school, is not necessarily a mistake.
I have not seen, recently, she wrote the original "Umi-machi diary" was also made into a movie.
You have a chance, please take a look.

I don't remember if it was that late, but the point of the movie (which is based on Akimi Yoshida's manga) is that (A) the play is "The Cherry Orchard" by Russian playwright Anton Chekhov, and that (B) it is a school play.

The story of these schoolgirls are linked with the contents of Chekhov's play, cherry blossoms usually imply the blossoming of school students, and school actiivities in Japan starts in mid April. So Chekhov, cherry blossom and school weekdays were the necessities.

I suppose the plot was built around these necessities. I'm not sure if the location of the school was mentioned in the story, but I suppose the audience is given the freedom to imagine that it is located up north, or that they are enjoying an unusually late blossoming on that particular year.

The filming location usually has nothing to do with the story. If you want blossoms, the crew can travel far to get it. Actors wear bathing suits in the middle of winter if they have to shoot a summer scene in time for a movie release.

I loved the movie too, by the way. Also, it's easy to see a lot of cherry blossoms with little people around if you go to the right places at the right time.

Around Tokyo in 1990 spring was about one week earlier than last year 1989
recorded full blooming on last week of 26 MAR. (in 1989 f/b was 3 APR)
So just arranged against story around those dates are still sclool spring holidays.
If story date was true this high school placed Nothern part than Tokyo.

This is 1st blooming(not full blooming) forecast MAP of this year 2015.
