Violet (Saintpaulia) in Tokyo? 2015/11/18 15:29
Hi!

I'm right now in Tokyo (Yoga/Futako-Tamagawa stations) and I'm looking for Violet (Saintpaulia) shop in any Tokyo area... My wife collects Violets in Ukraine and ask me to bring some of them from Japanese breeders, but I have no idea where I should find such store..

Thanks for help.

Saintpaulia (African Violet)

It's known and sold under the latin name (Sento pooria in Japanese).

There are many "gardening shops" and "DIY shops" who are handling plants but they are usually located in residential area and if you are just visiting, it may not be easy for you to find them.
Some department stores in central Tokyo has a small gardening shop on the top floor, you can check them out.

Mitsukoshi (Nihonbashi) for example.
"Chelsea Garden" on the roof floor.

But first you should check about the customs in Ukraine and see if they allow you to bring in plants with soil - most countries do not and plants would be either destroyed or confiscated at the quarantine.

Thanks for answer. I will stay in Tokyo for next 4 days and can travel to residental areas at weekends.

Ukraine customs do not allow transfer plants with soil, but dont pay much attention to the shanks and leaves, so thats enough for me.

Thanks for url, will check it.
