Different translations?

I've heard something that sounds like "ah-so-saw" in two t.v. series now. The first time it was translated as "yes, it was me" and the second time i heard it, it was translated as "oh right." Could someone explain this to me?

What you heard were basically affirmative replies. The reason they were translated differently each time was because they included the context of the question in the translation.

Could it have been just saying "aa, sou, sou," meaning "yeah, right, right" showing agreement with what the other person said. So depending on what the pother person said immediately before that, the TV subtitle might show different "translations."

"ah-so-saw" can be separated to a couple of words, "ah" and "so-saw".
"ah" is just admiration, seem as "wow" or "oh" or "You know".
"so-saw" is casual affirmation, seem as "Yes, you are right".

1st example:
A) "Who was it? You?"
B) "ah-so-saw". (Yes, it was me)

2nd example:
A) "You need this one, right?"
B) "ah-so-saw" (oh, right)

Because it is just a positive word, previous sentence is important to get the meaning.

The first example is "sodesu yo" .
Ah, so-saw=Ya, you are right. As you say.
The second example is "ah, so-ka!", or "ah, so-da, so-da!"
= Oh, you are right!, I just remembered/noticed/knew it, that was it!
Do not be confused with "ah, so desuka?" which is "Oh, I didn't know".

ah-so-saw, あー、そうそう, in the TV series of 相棒.
almost meaningless. it is "by the way".
