How to read my chinese name in japanese? 2016/1/22 00:40
Hello guys, I was recently exposed to japanese culture and stuff and it got me wondering about my chinese name translation or conversion in japanese.

My family name: 郭
My name : 明强

I think the word 强 doesnt really exist in japanese, so maybe it could be substituted to 強.

Thanks in advance.

Dear Guo Mingqiang
In Romaji(羅馬字), it should be written Kaku MinKyo, but we pronounce it something like Kak MingKyo.

Dear Mollie,
Thank you for replying. Is Kak MingKyo a common name in Japan? And another thing, I found that 明 is also read 'akira' is that true?
Thanks :)

No, foreign names are generally not common in Japan. There are some foreign and Japanese names that sound similar, but they usually have different entomology.

And another thing, I found that 明 is also read 'akira' is that true?

Yes, among other readings.
