Have you worked a side job while on visa?

While on a Humanities and Specialist visa, have you? Was there any issues with taxes or any problems with immigration saying you shouldn't work more than one job? I heard somewhere it's frowned upon.

I have same visa as you and thats my freaking problem. You are only allowed to work on side jobs if you have the stamp in your passport saying that you are permitted to be engaged in other activities. To get it you must go to immigration. But the immigration will be particular in the job contents. Restaurant jobs, crew, cleaning etc. is not allowed for our visa type. The problem is its hard to find a more decent job that does not include those.
If you dont have that stamp and you continue working to your sidejob, you will be subjected to deportation.
