Kunisaki Peninsula - how much time?

Hi All,
At present, I'm starting to plan my CNY trip to Oita and Kumamoto. The Kunisaki Peninsula is a place that I've really wanted to visit.
For people who have been there - how many nights (with a car) do you think you need to do this place justice?
