Luggage Transfer Safety?

Hi,
I'm planning on using the luggage transfer options from time to time so I don't have to carry my big backpack on city excursions and just my smaller day trip backpack. Is it 'safe' to let my laptop stay inside the big backpack during transfer etc? I'm not worried for handling issues that might break it, it sits inside a thick & sturdy cover and can take a serious beating but I'm more worried about possible theft?

When you use the service, you write on the form the contents of the package/suitcase. You get a copy of the form, and the company gets a copy. If you write "laptop" and it goes missing, you can go back to the company and show them.
