Which is the best place/way to convert Indian rupee (about 3,00,000 INR) into yen. At: 1) Within India? (getting a rate of 1 rupee = 1.68 yen) 2) At post office in Narita airport? 3) Using 7-11 ATM? (although my indian credit card could incur a high transaction fee) Thanks.

They would "wring" your rupee to "pulp" if you changed in Narita.

Hahaha! Ya I thought as much which is why we've purchased USD first which we want to convert into yen over the counter in Tokyo. Now could you please suggest the best place to do that? Thanks!

Icici banks website mentions rate of 64.85 for INR which is pretty decent. They might add some service charge but I would recommend getting a Visa prepaid card, most Indian travelers these days do the same. You can fill in JPY and it works at any ATM, no worries of carrying or losing cash
