Hi all,
I am interested in buying the new Olympus 12-100mm 4.0 Pro lens. This lens costs about €1300 in The Netherlands.
Since I am visiting Japan soon, I was wondering what this lens would cost me over there. Did anyone already come across this fairly new lens?

Thanks a bunch for your input. May I assume this is before taxes (or can I - as a tourist - claim 8% of this amount)?

That price is from their website & includes tax which you should be able to claim back. Not worth me doing from the UK as import duties are 6.7% & then VAT at 20% gives me a price 70 pounds more than buying locally.

I've bought several lenses over the past few years. Simply shipped the box and booklets though snail mail to my address and only brought the lens in my camera bag. Never did I encounter issues (knock on wood).

I've purchased items in Japan before and used them right away. I didn't bother to ask for the tax-free price as even with the tax, the lenses (Nikon) were cheaper in Japan by about $200 and with a trade in by about $600. I just simply used it, but kept my receipt and manuals. I discarded the box and US customs was none the wiser.

If you did not declare the items, you have, however, broken the law.
