TP Link M7350 pocket wifi works in Japan?

My daughter went to Japan and she brought along the TP Link M7350 pocket wifi with her. Upon arrival at Japan, she bought a data SIM card and started to turn on the pocket wifi but it cannot connect to the local network.
What is wrong with that? Anyone can advise .

It should work in Japan. Did she configure the APN settings on the wifi per the instructions provided with the data sim?

Hi,
If she brought a smartphone along let her try if the dataSIM works in her phone. If it works in the phone (the APN should set automatically) the problem is in the pocket wifi. (She can also check the APN settings in the phone).
BTW i think it is smart to bring a pocket wifi and get a local SIM. Altogether cheaper and you do not need to sent anything back and you can use the pocket wifi on your next trip.
