Import duty on New Furniture shipped to Japan

We will move to Hokkaido late 2017 and were planning on buying most furniture including Beds, Couches, Dining set etc new in Australia, and shipping to Hokkaido.
I understand there may be duty or import tax payable, but have not been able to confirm the % charged.
The funiture will be all for out private use and not resold.
TIA for any advice.
