Transport to Mt Koyosan and onwards

I'm travelling to Japan this year (first time) and would like to go from Kansai Airport hotel to visit Koyosan overnight. What would be the best transport? Has anybody had experience with the 'limosine' service as opposed to the train/cable option?
We plan to stay overnight then begin our trek on the Kumano Kodo - so I would also love some advice on the best way to get from Mt Koyosan to Takijiri. I'm presuming there is a bus - if so do we need to organise it prior to our visit? (how long does the journey take?)
