Unique baby gift from Japan 2017/7/28 12:58
A relative of mine just had a baby and I'd like to send a unique baby gift from Japan while I'm here... But I have absolutely no ideas. Any suggestions?

How about a little baby yukata? They are being sold right now, and while the kid will outgrow it in a few minutes (ok, months, but still), it'll make for some cute pictures, and a nice thing to save to give to the baby when he/she's all grown up!

Yukata is a great idea.
Also maybe a kokeshi or daruma doll, which might come into its own as a toy a bit later on, but will always be a lovely thing to look at and have around.
Or even an Imabari towel for bath time- so soft, so light, and so many lovely patterns.

Anpanman the little children's bean paste bread character on anything from clothes to toys, if your looking for a modern Japanese baby gift.

It is like Yukata, but Jinbei (甚平) is also good for baby.
