Hardcore martial arts training 2017/8/15 18:33
Hi i'm from the UK, and planning to go to japan to train Aikido. I would like to train 5/6 hours a day for either a year or two depending on a visa etc, is there any dojos that have this? Or alternatively does a uchi deshi still exist?

Thank you for your replies

That sounds like it would be an interesting experience. There are some different places offering uchi-deshi systems; you will have a few options, even searching just in English it looks like.

However, it looks like you need to have some previous experience with Aikido to be admitted as an uchi-deshi. Also, on a cultural studies visa, you will need to prove that you have the funds to pay for your studies and daily expenses, and will probably not be given permission to work. There are also uchi-deshi programs in other countries, so if the main goal is to learn Aikido and not necessarily Japanese you could also potentially study in your home country, depending on where you live.

If OP is young enough, he or she can go with a WH visa.
