How to get from Sakaiminato to Matsue

We will be cruising to Sakaiminato in October and would like to visit Matsue for the day. Please can you let me know the best way to get from Sakaiminato to Matsue by public transport? Is this the best use of our day? Are there any suggested places or things to visit?

Ichibata bus travels from Sakaiminato to Matsue. It goes by the Yuushien garden - see the following website for bus information: https://www.visit-matsue.com/discover/outer_matsue/daikonshima

From this timetable, https://www.ichibata.co.jp/bus/rosen/shuttle-bus.html, the last bus back to Sakaiminato leaves Matsue station at 16:25. After this time, you will need to take the train, changing at Yonago station.

There is a lot to see in Matsue, and the attractions are spread throughout the city. Recommendations of what to see depends on your interests.
