[今から銀行へ行こうと思っています vs 今から銀行へ行くつもりです] What is the difference between these two? Are both the same?

The first one is "I'm thinking of/planning on going to bank from now" and the second is "I intend to go to the bank from now." About the same, the second one sounds a bit firmer in your intentions.
